Lafayette
Who were the parents of Lafayette Swegle?
Lafayette Swegle b 24 Sep 1824 Sussex Co. NJ, d 17 Jun 1889 St Augustine, Knox Co. IL.
We have been unable to prove who his parents were or to verify his birth.
He possibly could be a son of Mathias and Sarah.
His birthday would place him between their sons, Charles and Mathias Jr.
The 1830 Census of Fulton Co. IL. lists 3 sons for Mathias Sr.
We know that two are Mathias Jr and Charles. The third could be Lafayette.
Also Charles middle name was Marion as was Lafayette's son, General Marion.
After Charles had been in Oregon, he came back to Hermon, IL for a visit.
That was where Lafayette was living.
Lafayette is not named in Wills of Mathias or Sarah.
